Sagg Main Street is the village's spine and the heart of the Sagaponack Historic District, which takes in over 130 buildings, sites, and structures. Along it and the lanes off it you will find the oldest housing stock in the village, including wood-frame houses dating back to roughly 1692, Victorian-era homes, and early twentieth-century shingle-style and Colonial Revival houses, generally on smaller parcels than the estate lanes. The general store and post office, the one-room schoolhouse, and the Madoo Conservancy are all on this street. Buyers here are usually choosing character and history over acreage, and should expect that work on a historic property in the district will involve more process than a new build elsewhere.
